Ashwin Gohil
Ashwin joined RSGI in 2025, and is part of the FT Innovative Lawyers research team.
He studied History at the University of Cambridge, completing his BA in 2024 and his MPhil in 2025. His MPhil dissertation was an emotional history of how the 2008 Global Financial Crisis affected the UK, which involved interviewing key decision-makers. The project also drew on previously unused Mass Observation records – housed at the University of Sussex – to understand people’s hopes and anxieties during this time. Ashwin presented his research findings at various postgraduate conferences between 2024-2025.
Alongside his studies, Ashwin served as MPhil convenor of the Modern British History Workshop, where he was responsible for speaker engagement, event logistics, communications and widening outreach.
Outside work, Ashwin enjoys cooking, listening to podcasts and playing five-a-side football. He is also a lifelong (if long-suffering) follower of Arsenal F.C.
